WOW! .... This was a great read. I love time-travel books and they are proving to be very popular with readers at the moment (look out vampires and zombies). This is the first book in a new series and I'm totally hooked, and will definately be reading the others. Another great thing that kids will like, is that there is also extra interaction with this series by way of a special website.The main characters Dak Smyth and Sera Froste, along with new friend Rik, find themselves smack bang in the middle of an exciting but dangerous task in Spain in 1492. They have been given the huge responsibility to fix history. I'm not going to give away details of the plot, because that would spoil it for all of you would-be time-travellers. But what I will say, is that these kids get involved in plenty of action as they set sail on a tall ship with Christopher Columbus.I definately recommend this book, it's bound to be a hugely popular series with the kids, and I can't wait to read the next one.
I did enjoy this book especially the two main characters. I thought Dak was hilarious and his random lessons on history were informative but enjoyable at the same time. Riq was kind of up in the air for me. Hopefully, they flesh out his character a little more as the books go along. Right now he just seems kind of like a spoiled brat.I do wish they would've spent a little more time showing the impact of how the present day changed since history was changed.I'm looking forward to reading about their next adventure.

This series looks like it is going to be good. This book started the series with a bang. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to get the next one. I don't understand why Dak's parents were wanted. I also wish that Dak, Sera, and Riq are better at fighting. I also didn't understand what was happening at points. I don't mean to sound so harsh on this book. All in all, it was a great book. :)
A really funny and interesting book to pass the time.
This is the first book in a series by scholastic. This looks like the first series since Harry Potter that Scholastic is putting a lot of time and energy into. As far as I can tell a different author will write each book. Personally, I picked it up because this book is by the author of another book I enjoyed called Maze Runner.This book was fun and creative and should be enjoyable by any middle school kid. The writing is definitely a little simplified so that younger audiences can enjoy it, but it was not dumbed down to the point that as an adult I could not enjoy it.I don't want to get into too much detail since I hate spoilers but I would recommend it to you and your kids. If the series continues to be this good it will end up being as good if not better than the Potter series.Only thing I didn't really care for is the length of the book, read the entire thing in a day and a half.
This book is a perfect blend of action and comedy. It also has a very creative concept. If you have read and enjoyed any series of Rick Riordan's and enjoyed it, this is the perfect read. It has the same style of witty humor, and interesting characters. An awesome book!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a pretty good book - especially if you want kids to learn some history in an interesting fashion.
