Laura K. Guerrero has been at Arizona State since 1996 where she teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses on relational communication, nonverbal communication, statistics, and research methods. Her research focuses on communication in close relationships, emphasizing nonverbal messages, emotion, and the "dark” and “bright” sides of interpersonal communication. She is the co-author/co-editor of Nonverbal Communication in Close Relationships (Erlbaum), The Nonverbal Communication Reader, Third Edition (Waveland Press), Nonverbal Communication (Pearson), and the Handbook of Communication and Emotion (Academic Press).

Peter Andersen (PhD, Florida State University) is a professor at San Diego State University. The author of five books and more than 150 book chapters, research papers, and journal articles, he has received recognition as one of the 100 most published scholars in the field of communication.

Walid A. Afifi (PhD, University of Arizona) is professor in the Department of Communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he teaches interpersonal communication, relational communication, nonverbal communication, and social marketing. My son needed it for a book report. I have no opinion about the content of the book. However, I was disappointed that a new book has the cover completely folded over when I unpacked it. I had to keep it because my son's book report and all the pages were fine.

I'm a homeschooler and my 8 year old son is studying American History this year. We have quite a few of the books from the "If You Lived..." series to go along with his studies, but when I saw this book I knew he would love it. These books are well written and entertaining. My son reads these himself or asks me to read them to him for fun rather than "school."

Children will enjoy delving into the Middle Ages with this book. Written in Q&A style, they'll learn all about living in a Medieval times, from dressing and housing to basic economy and warfare. Very appropriate for both young readers and tweens. A nice addition to your child's history shelf!

I love using these books to teach history for first through third grade. They are enjoyable to read aloud and have lively illustrations that help kids understand life in time gone by. "If You Lived in the Days of the Knights" is excellent for explaining life in medieval times without getting into the sorts of gory details some history books try to interest kids with.

I like this book better than the DK reader about Knights and Castles. It's a great format with good illustrations.My reservation with this book is that is made the medieval centuries seem so homogenous -- fashions and political systems were not as permanent or as pervasive as this book indicates. How could they be? Feudalism was in place across a huge geographical area and life was different in diffent parts of the world and at different times under different rulers and nobles.
